Your Guide to Staying Fit & Healthy while Travelling
When you’re away from home & out of your routine, it can be difficult to keep to those healthy habits that you’ve worked so hard to maintain.
So here are some tips to staying fit and healthy while you’re away from home.
Exercise
Try to book hotels with their own gyms.
As soon as you’ve checked in and dropped off your luggage, find the gym and take a look around so you feel at home.
Start and finish your day with exercise. Jump on the treadmill or bike. Even a 10-minute workout before breakfast gets the circulation going and all motion improves your mood.
Exercise sets you in a positive frame of mind for your day.
Finish your working day with a few lengths of the hotel pool, a tennis lesson, or a trip to the gym.
If your hotel doesn’t have a gym, call them in advance and see if they have a deal with a nearby gym. Lots of gyms also offer day passes.
Failing that, pack your trainers and go for a run!
Or try Alva Carpenter’s Mini-Morning Workout which you can do from the comfort of your hotel room.
Nutrition
It’s so easy to overeat the scrumptious hotel food.
Start your day with hydration – drink a large glass of water and make sure you carry water with you.
Choose all the healthy options at breakfast – fresh fruit smoothies, fruit juice, yoghurt, cereal, eggs and whole grain bread.
For lunch and dinner, focus on vegetables and lean protein, but of course you should have one treat per day!
